Ping-Pong
Back and forth I bounce,
Across the blue (that’s sometimes green).
Unpredictable, weighing only an ounce,
To where will I next careen?
Back of course, across the net,
As another lighthearted ping signals my return.
Possibly to land in a glass – beer-soaked and wet,
Confused by silly rules I am told to learn.
Why can’t this just be fun?
I wonder as I float across once more.
Conscious of becoming stuck and undone,
But I’ll bounce back that’s for sure.
With an up-beat, comical pong,
I’ll shrug off a fate I’ll never control.
Because once more I’ll bob along,
Full of air and a happy soul.
